Mahina: A moon of iron and ice
This moon is inspired by folk lore from the Pacific Islands, Polynesia and Hawaii.
Mahina is the spirit of divine feminine energy. She brings hope, balance and mental clarity in times of change.
As she passes over the planet Helstrom, waxing and waning, crystallizing in deep ice and flowing water, she reminds us that our existence is both temporary and eternal: that the change of tides, birth, death, and life, are all a part of the balance of the universe.
The planet Helstrom, the setting for the WEIRDrpg, is in a binary sun system, and is orbited by 3 moons. Mahina is the smallest and furthest away from the planet. She is water world with a dense iron core and strong magnetic field.
The WEIRDrpg is inspired by cultural wisdom from around the world. It is a parable for the many global crises we face in our modern age.
This artwork is inspired by folk lore from the Pacific Ocean cultures, Polynesia, and Hawaii, who share similar stories of the moon goddess Hina, or Mahina, who is their lunar deity.
