The collection, Sanctuary: After Earth, is a parable of a new world that humanity needs to adapt to, after destroying the planet Earth. The setting is the Planet Helstrom, and is inspired by philosophy and legends of wisdom from around the world.

The astronomy for the creative storytelling took years to build. In the [mostly] accurate model of the solar system, the planet Helstrom is orbited by three moons.

The artwork, Mahina, is based off the smallest and most distant moon. Mahina is a waterworld with a dense iron core and strong magnetic field.

This artwork is inspired by folk lore from the Pacific Ocean cultures, Polynesia, and Hawaii, who share similar stories of the moon goddess Hina, or Mahina, who is their lunar deity.
